Dreamworks is adapting Adam Rex’s The True Meaning of Smekday! The animated film has been titled Home, and will feature voice talents from Steve Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, and Jim Parsons. Here is the story, according to the Hollywood Reporter:

The movie tells of a friendly alien race that invades Earth and begins to efficiently reorganize the planet. But one resourceful girl (Rihanna) manages to escape and finds herself teamed up with a banished alien named Oh (Parsons). The two fugitives find themselves on a postapocalyptic road trip with intergalactic stakes.

Sounds a bit different from the book, but who knows? We’re always excited for Steve Martin, and Rihanna may have won us over a bit with her performance in Battleship (even if the movie didn’t). The film is set to come out in November of 2014—who’s gonna be there?
